Shirt Construction notes

http://www.18cnewenglandlife.org/18cnel/shirt.htm - Excellent analysis of a post 1740 18th c. style shirt.

http://www.vintagetextile.com/new_page_240.htm - Gentleman's linen shirt, Philadelphia, c.1790-1820

Memorial Hall Museum in Deerfield Mass - early 19th c. shirt with ruffles.  Included to show detail on the ruffles only.

Kent State University Museum - Boy's shirt from late 18th c.  -- some contradictions with other information in the design details of this shirt; ruffles are nicely done though.

http://www.marquise.de/en/1700/howto/maenner/18hemd.shtml - Translated instructions on making a Man's shirt from Garsault's L'art du tailleur (The Art of the Tailor), published in the 1760s.  Not easy to follow, but interesting nonetheless.

http://www.meg-andrews.com/showitem.php?item=6042 A shirt at auction, dated 1790-1820. Nice ruffles.
