Photos of me in my garb at events

This page is just pictures of me.  Kinda self gratuitous, huh?  It's intended to give some idea of how clothing and accoutrement fits or is worn. There are other images available in the Event Photos pages

Fort Dobbs' War for Empire event, 2008.

We were doing storytelling, then going to a "war council", so painted up beforehand.

Natural linen shirt, pattern from "Thoughts on Men's Shirts".  Wool leggings, beaded garters, trade wool breechclout, wool matchcoat.  I have my newest favorite pipe with a very long stem, my pipe bag tucked into a prisoner tie that I'm using as a belt.

Wearing my Peace medal and neck knife, have three pairs of ear bobs in each ear, and am wearing several brass bracelets.  My hair is in a scalplock with three braids.  A cane tube is on one, small hair fob on the largest, and I have a turkey tail feather or two just randomly tucked into the braids.

It was cool and rather cloudy, so the colors came out more garish then they really are.

Doing Living History at the Chehaw Native American Festival, November, 2004.

Wearing a block-print calico shirt, wool weskit, leather leggings, beaded leg ties, saved "worm" stroud breechcloth, leather belt, tobacco bag, neck knife and twined bag.  Several earbobs in ears, one in nose. You can't see, but I have on a George II peace medal, a small string of red beads, and a red hair garter in my hair. Partly visible is a strand of wampum on my right ear.  I was showing some visitors how face-paint was made, so have a little paint on.  I have my recently almost finished pipe 'hawk in hand.

Westville 2004 Raid on Shepherd's Plantation event.  Still wearing my ever-nastier checked shirt.  As this is a 19th c. event, I'm wearing a simple turban, wool leggings, beaded leg ties, and a pointed, blue edged red wool breechcloth.  Though a rather late event for them, I'm  using my neck knife, twined shooting bag, and carrying my trade gun.  The short sash I'm wearing is Jacob's, and  is only there because I left my belt at home that weekend.  I also have a prisoner harness around my waist, dangling down in front.  You can't see my deer hide center seam moccasins in the undergrowth.

Black and vermillion face and some body paint, pairs of ear and nose bobs, trade bead necklace complete the ensemble.

Not the greatest photo, since I removed all the other folks and stuff from around and behind me, but gives a decent idea of what I wear to a cool weather event.  This was at our Fort Yargo Thanksgiving feast, November, 2003.  It was cool, but not miserably cold during the day.

The ever present blue checked shirt, wool weskit, wool leggings, saved-list breechclout from Wooded Hamlet, center seam puckertoe moccasins, leather belt, woven wool leg garters. My matchcoat is folded narrowly over my left shoulder. I have my neck knife and a leather shooting bag, as well as my 'hawk.  You probably can't see the earrings and nose ring in this picture.

Mid 1700's garb and accoutrement.  Trade shirt, neck knife, bow, quiver, shot pouch, trade beads, red ochre, black paint mixed with bear oil, ball and cone earbobs, nose ring with floating ball, hair cut in style documented by early Georgia paintings.  Good thing I finally got contacts though.

Early 1800's garb and accoutrement.  Trade shirt, leather leggings, simple cloth turban with "heron" feather, tomahawk, ochre and wood charcoal mixed with bear oil face paint.

Mid 18th century attire and accoutrement.  Trade shirt, French pattern belt knife, leather belt, red trade wool breech clout per Bartram, red wool leg ties, center seam pucker toe moccasins, very well-worn red wool liners, ball and cone earbobs, nose ring with floating ball, hair cut in style documented by early Georgia paintings, shorter on top that in Watauga photo.

Fort Toulouse French and Indian Days, Fort Toulouse, Wetumpka, AL 2002.  Photo by Sam or Ken?

Photo from the 2002 Southeastern Rendezvous.  Supervising Jeff "Ironmule" Smith working on a small boat.  He has made several of these, I think this one is owned by Mssr. Jason Gatliff, of "On The Trail" fame.

I can't remember who took this photo. It was in the local newspaper.
